FormaHoof™ Performance is an innovative podiatry system specifically designed for the racing and performance horse communities. FormaHoof™ Performance has a similar ground surface shape to a standard horseshoe. This provides added traction during high speed work. It has a thin profile which provides the horse with comfort and support without the need for nails or glue.
The FormaHoof™ Performance mould is placed around the hoof wall. The FormaHoof™ AP Resin is then injected into specifically designed holes in the mould. As the resin flows into the mould, it forms a continuous shape.
Using FormaHoof™ Performance significantly reduces the risks associated with traditional shoeing. These risks include the loss of a shoe during work, stepping on a nail or clip if the shoe twists, numerous nail holes in the hoof wall and the use of standard horseshoes which do not support the frog. These risks can physically damage hoof wall, cause the heel tubules to collapse and damage the underlying sensitive structures of the hoof.
FormaHoof™ Performance can easily have a horseshoe nailed to the mould or a horseshoe can be set into the mould. This may be required for further traction and durability. A horseshoe may also be required to be applied under different rules and regulations of both racing and equestrian clubs. As the regulators become more experienced with the FormaHoof™ system, this will likely not be required in the future.
